We have continued with our new project ‘Winter Wonderland’ and have had a specific focus on ice this week.
In Maths we played an icicle game where the children rolled a dice and printed the correct number of circles on their icicles. They then compared the number of circles with their friends to see who had more and who had fewer.
Mrs Lindsay told a story about cow who had a hole in his scarf. His friends tried to help but they all had the wrong shapes! Luckily, they found the correct shape in the end!
Using the Little Wandle phonics scheme the children learned the sound ‘g’ and played lots of games to develop their phonemic awareness and oral blending.
In Science the children explored ice melting and they described how it feels. There were lots of hidden treasures in the ice such as sparkly sequins, feathers and pompoms.
The children enjoyed investigating frozen paint and discovering what happens when the paint cubes melt and the colours mix together!
Other activities have included:
Winter themed pencil control activities.
Apparatus in PE.
Listening to lots of Winter themed stories.
