The weather didn’t stop the children from having fun making water runs and umbrellas! They worked together as a team and enjoyed sharing their ideas with their friends.

Welcome to the Forest School Blog
As it’s getting colder and harder for the birds to find food, the children in year 1 have made bird feeders and have put them around the school playground. They have loved checking on them to see if the birds have eaten any of the seeds!
We’ve been resourceful in Forest Schools by creating a natural drum kit out of whatever we could find. We had fun singing and dancing along to the beat whilst we made some beads out of elder sticks.
Year 6 Forest Schools group has been learning to tie different knots to help them with building shelters. We used the reef knot to tie rope together and then used a loop knot to create ends to put pegs through. Teamwork was essential as we made use of all the natural logs and branches.
Children enjoyed making homes for their ‘animals’. We found lots of autumn leaves, and lots of fungi growing in the forest school area. We talked about the importance of never touching wild mushrooms. They worked together and had lots of fun!
We collected colourful autumn leaves and made leaf mobiles. This was great for our fine motor skills of threading and tying. It was fun in the dome listening to the rain outside!
This time, we made sure we got our bulbs in and around the borders at the front of school. We planted lots of daffodils and some other more exotic bulbs which we hope will blossom in early Spring next year. Keep your eyes peeled around then!
During Forest Schools, we planted some strong scented herbs into one of our planters. We thought this would be a great area to open the senses to different smells. Run your hands through the leaves next time your pass here and smell the different aromas.
The Year 6s have been help in getting our planters ready for a new year of vegetable growth. We need to move the soil effectively from the bags to the wheelbarrow then to the planters.
The children enjoyed singing around the campfire and having a hot chocolate in forest school today.
