Shiver Me Timbers! Pirates Ahoy! (PM Nursery)

What a busy last week in Nursery!

We continued with our mini project ‘Splash!’

The children met Captain Party the pirate puppet and helped him to sort his treasure into things that float and things that sink.

In the water tray outside the children further explored floating and sinking!

In ‘Rhyme Time’ the children sang ‘1,2,3,4,5 Once I caught a Fish Alive’ in different ways such as loud, in a whisper, fast and slow. They also thought about syllables and clapped them, rhyming words and words that began with the same sound.

In Maths we practiced giving directions such as ‘forwards’ and ‘backwards’ and used positional language, such as ‘behind’ and ‘under’ to find the hidden treasure! The children enjoyed drawing their own treasure maps, where X marks the spot!

On Wednesday we had lots of fun during our Pirate party, where we walked the plank, played pass the parcel, played pirate musical statues, had delicious cake and did some fantastic dancing too!

Other activities have included:

Dancing with the scarves to Saint- Saens ‘Carnival of the Animals, ‘Aquarium’.

Learning two new exercise dances, Boogie Beebies ‘Pirates’ and Little Movers ‘Sea Animal Dance’.

Listening to ‘The Rainbow Fish’ and sharing sequin scales!

Pirate colouring and pirate treasure map making.

Pirate dressing up.

Small world Pirates!
