This week we learnt the new sounds -v, -w, -x and -y as well as new tricky words and, has, his and her. In maths we focussed on composition and parts and whole vocabulary, looking at ourselves, toys, animals and numbers and how they are composed and decomposed. In our topic we thought about how machines work, how they help us and even used machines such as a microwave to make popcorn. We compared machines from the past and present and discussed how they help us. We then used these experiences to write instructions for making popcorn! The children had fun using a blood pressures machine and thought about how other machines such as hospital machines can help us. The children explored with paint and car tracks, we thought about keeping safe for road safety week and read books such as The Most Magnificent Thing, Daisy eat Your Peas, Billy’s Bucket, The Singing Mermaid and more.
