Year 5 had an exciting and action-packed trip to Thinktank Science Museum in Birmingham, where learning really came to life! The visit linked perfectly with our science topics on forces, mechanisms and space, and the children had a fantastic time exploring, experimenting and discovering.
During a hands-on practical workshop, the children learned about different types of forces and took part in experiments focusing on friction. They tested how objects move across different surfaces, made predictions, and discussed their results like real scientists. It was wonderful to see such enthusiasm, curiosity and teamwork throughout the session.
One of the highlights of the day was our visit to the planetarium, which truly amazed everyone. We learned about the stars in the night sky and explored the planets and moons in our solar system. The immersive experience helped the children understand space in an exciting and memorable way, and there were plenty of “wow” moments from both children and staff!
The children represented the school brilliantly and showed excellent behaviour, curiosity and respect throughout the day. Both pupils and staff had a great time, and it was lovely to see the children so engaged and inspired by science.
A big thank you to Mrs Johnson, Mrs Evans and Mrs Skelton-Morris for joining us and helping to make the trip such a success. It was a day full of learning, fun and unforgettable experiences!
