This week we learnt the new sounds -v, -w, -x and y as well as new tricky words and, has, his and her. In maths we focussed on composition and parts and whole vocabulary looking at ourselves, toys, animals and numbers and how they are composed and de-composed. In our topic we thought about how machines work, how they help us and even used machines such as a microwave to make popcorn and scrambled eggs (that we collected from our chicken coup) a hand whisk and an electric to compare machines from the past and machines now that help us. We then used these experiences to write instructions for making popcorn! The children then had fun using a blood pressure machine and thought about how other machines like the ones in hospitals can also help us. The children explored with paint outside, water and snow! We thought about keeping safe for road safety day and read books such as The most Magnificent Thing, Daisy eat you peas, Centipede’s 100 Shoes, What the Ladybird heard and more.
