This week is Anti-Bullying Week, so on Monday we came in odd socks. We started our Geography topic with looking at maps and finding different places on them, around the world. In Design and Technology, we followed a recipe and made Eton mess! In Maths we practised subtracting two 2-digit numbers across 10. Finally, Children in Need Day!

We had a very busy week in Year 2. We learned how to add and subtract multiples of 10 from a 2-digit number. In science we carried out some tests to find out why we should use soap to wash our hands, it was very messy! We also did some research on minibeasts for our non-chronological report.
We have been adding and subtracting numbers this week. We even learned how to add three 1-digit numbers together!
This week we compared and ordered numbers, then we estimated where they might be on the number line. We played racing games in teams, sang and danced to counting songs. To finish our week, we made posters about skip counting in 2s, 5s and 10s.
As part of our new history topic, ‘Magnificent Monarchs’, we learned lots of new words and their definitions, such as monarch, reign and sovereign. We looked kings and queens and worked together to put them in chronological order to make a timeline, then compared different rulers to see who had the most power. We also found out lots of facts
We have finished our beach huts! It took a lot of time, hard work, patience and resilience, but we succeeded. The children have learnt how to saw, make different joints, measure, cut, paint, glue and they have developed their teamwork skills. We are very proud of what we have achieved!
We started our Design and Technology topic ‘Beach hut’. We learned how to use some tools safely and practised cutting wood. We designed our beach hut and we can’t wait to start making them next week. As part of our writing lessons, we also planted sunflower seeds in pots so we can write a step by step instruction about how
This week we have investigated 2-D and 3-D shapes and learned about their properties. We had fun using our new knowledge of sides and vertices, making 2-D shapes from play dough and paper straws. Some of our shapes were regular, some were irregular polygons. We even made octagons!
