This week we continued with phase 4 words ending in -ing and -est and tricky words, today and out. In maths we were comparing, considering where numbers to 10 are in relation to each other through practical activities and games. We started our new topic ‘On the Beach’ and went on a pretend holiday where
We went through phase 4 longer words and compound words this week as well as tricky words there, when, what and one. In maths we looked at composition of numbers to 10 recognising the larger part of 10 presented on a double dice frame using ‘5 and a bit’ structure’ and subitising the smaller part.
What a week! We continued with our phase 4 words and tricky words were, here, little and says. In maths we consolidated our understanding of 5 and practised recalling parts of 5 when 1 part is not visible. We also built of previous learning of the composition of 6 and 7. We grouped animals based
This week we continued with phase phase words and tricky words, said, some, come and do. In maths we used the children’s developing knowledge of patterns and doubles to support their subitising skills and develop their abstract understanding of number. In other areas we looked at weather, the environment and living things around the world
This week we moved onto phase 4 in Phonics which included phase 4 tricky words so, like, have and said. In maths we focussed on the purpose of counting and revisited the last number telling us how many altogether. The children have also been given the opportunity to practise the key differences in number names
This week we moved onto words ending with -es sounding like -iz, -s sounding like -z, longer words, -s that sounds like -s and tricky words in Phonics. In maths we recapped on comparison with a focus on differences and similarities in the quantity without being diverted by colour shape or size. We read Jack
We worked on longer words, words ending with -ing, compound words and tricky words in Phonics. In maths we focussed on composition to 5, with automatic recall of numbers to 5 and deepening their understanding of a whole being made of smaller parts through practical experiences. We started our mini topic Signs of Spring where
