We worked on longer words, words ending with -ing, compound words and tricky words in Phonics. In maths we focussed on composition to 5, with automatic recall of numbers to 5 and deepening their understanding of a whole being made of smaller parts through practical experiences. We started our mini topic Signs of Spring where we thought about appropriate clothing for the season, spring. We also enjoyed a lovely spring walk where we spotted lots of signs of spring and recorded these on a checklist. The children were fascinated by the life cycle of a frog which they then wrote about. During busy learning time the children explored with colour mixing by painting flowers, getting messy with pretend frog spawn and threading flowers in the fine motor area.
