This week we covered the sounds -ff -ll -ss and j. In maths we focussed on the importance of careful counting, counting to 5, counting actions, sounds and objects, their 1:1 correspondence skills and how many ‘altogether’. In other areas we looked at celebrations such as bonfire night, Diwali and our experiences with different celebrations. The children wrote words linked to bonfire night in their books using the taught sounds so far. We read The Best Diwali Ever and other related titles. The children also enjoyed dressing up, creating Rangoli patterns with coloured sand and retold the Rama and Sita story with stick puppets.
