Spring Time and Easter! (AM Nursery)

This week our focus has been Spring Time and Easter. The children learnt about how people celebrate Easter.

The children went on a Spring walk around school and looked for signs of Spring. We found blossom, buds and catkins on trees. There were also daffodils, tulips and grape hyacinths. It was lovely to hear the birds singing. We also visited the school pond, the tyres and the Geo Dome.

We played an Easter ‘eye spy’ game and a ‘spot the difference’!

Using the Little Wandle phonics scheme the children learnt the sound ‘l’ and played lots of games to develop their phonemic awareness and oral blending.

We learnt the songs ‘I’m a Spring Chicken’, ‘Hot Cross Buns’ and ‘Mr Tumble’s Easter song’.

The role play area was turned into the Easter Bunny’s house, this was very popular!

The children enjoyed some Spring time and Easter colouring too!

In PE we continued to practise throwing, catching and target skills. The children are getting so good now!

It was lovely to enjoy the beautiful weather and spend lots of time in our outdoor classroom exploring water play, sand play, the mud kitchen and lots of other activities!
