This week, we teamed up with Mr Stevens and his Forest School group. We looked at a tribe who live in Indonesia. They build their huts above ground level to protect them from floods and dangerous animals. We then went outside and tried to build our own versions. We got very muddy, but we had a lot of fun!

This week we have enjoyed our active maths lessons both inside the classroom and in the hall. The children took the idea of challenging each other very seriously creating some tricky questions for each other in their own version of the game.
This week we have started our Science work on adaptation and evolution. We looked at using a classification key and making up our own criteria.
We set up the Learning Hub to challenge each other to our own maths questions based on what we have learnt so far in Year 6.
The children came up with some wonderful ideas of what they would like to explore over this half term before completing their map jigsaws. Their teamwork was very impressive!
The children in photography club spent Friday afternoon jumping into the sun and capturing a variety of amazing shots! What else will they come up with over the next few weeks?
Year 6 have been studying the artwork of Kenojuak Ashevak. We also attempted to make our own soap sculptures. Although some of the animals ended up without legs, arms or in some cases a head, we had a lot of fun making them. Its harder than it looks!
Our netball superstars played their first match against Potters Green at the end of the Autumn Term. We won both games; a great start to the year. The children worked well as a team and put into practise some of the skills they have been taught. Well done to all and thank you to the parents who came to support
The magistrates came to visit Year 6 on Thursday, their first trip of two. 6A experienced a trial and had to decide whether the defendant was guilty or not guilty. They had a fabulous morning, learnt a lot and asked some very thoughtful questions. The magistrates themselves were very impressed with the children and their knowledge but also their desire
Y6 enjoyed taking their learning further by challenging one another to some tricky conversions – fractions to decimals to percentages. Miss Appleton was very impressed!
