This week, we started our new science project, Uses of Materials. We carried out a mini investigation to see if we could bend, stretch, twist or squash objects made from materials such as plastic, modelling clay, metal and sponge. We have finished our beach huts! It took a lot of time, hard work, patience and resilience, but we succeeded. The children have learnt how to saw, make different joints, measure, cut, paint, glue and they have developed their teamwork skills. We are very proud of what we have achieved!

On Wednesday 9th April, Year 2 visited Noah’s Ark Zoo Farm and Weston-super-Mare beach. We saw lots of amazing animals at the zoo and got to play in the warm, grainy sand on the beach! We had an incredible and unforgettable day.
In line with our current art topic ‘Flower Head’, we decided to make blossom tree themed Mother’s Day cards. We created the different shades of pink by mixing red and white together and used our fingers to create the blossom effect. What do you think of our cards?
We had a busy week with lots of fun learning. In maths, we compared capacity and volume using rice to check our predictions. In art, we explored shape, form and texture using flowers, clay and play dough. On Comic Relief Day, we enjoyed more fun practical activities!
This week, we have been looking at how to measure mass in maths. We have learnt that mass is measured in grams (g) and kilograms (kg). Here, we are comparing the mass of different classroom objects using balancing scales.
