Members of the School Council from KS2 were invited to meet Amelia’s grandparents who came into school to talk to the children about their experiences and memories of the Queen`s Coronation which took place on the 2nd June 1953. Amelia’s grandmother spoke fondly about remembering what the Queen was wearing and how beautiful she looked. We discovered details about the procession itself, which included the amount of guards and policemen surrounding the streets. Amelia’s grandma brought in a puzzle commemorating the event which she has owned for 69 years! This was a treasured memory of the day. The children asked lots of interesting questions and we enjoyed learning more about the Coronation. We even enjoyed a special cake to celebrate the Queens Jubilee. A big thank you to Amelia and her grandparents.
