This week in Phonics we have learnt the sounds ck, e, u and r. We learnt the tricky word I. The children practised saying the phoneme and then wrote the grapheme on their whiteboards. In Maths we’ve built on our subitising skills as we’ve explored the number four. We used positional language to describe patterns of 4. We’ve also listened to drum beats and tried to identify how many beats we’ve heard. Our topic focus this week has been Autumn. Children have learnt about the changes that we observe during Autumn and were encouraged to use all of their senses to spot these changes during our Autumn walk. During provision children have had the opportunity to sort Autumn objects and also create repeating patterns with them. After reading the story Leaf Man children have been encouraged to make their own leaf person. Lots of children have also enjoyed writing their names on their ribbon rain clouds.
