Meet the Jolly Rogers!

Year 2 are reading The Pirates Next Door by Jonny Ruddle who has written a series of books about the family of pirates called The Jolly Rogers. This book is written in rhyme and is full of speech bubbles with colloquial speech. They had fun today reading, experimenting with their voices and reading in character!

Graphic Scores

Year 2 had great success at following a graphic score. The graphic score was in three sections and told the story of a boat at sea sailing through calm waters, a storm and then returning to calm. Each group had to play several instruments and follow their line of music to create a brilliant composition. Well done Year 2!

Year 3 Music

The children played a game where they made a composition using football cards! Each one had a number and an instrument was matched to it. The composition was made by cards popping up on the screen in different orders and the children played the correct instrument at the correct time following these. Sounds complicated but apparently it was great fun

We are trying to get better at number fluency so each week we look at a different multiplication table. This time it’s counting in 7s! To help us do this we try and look for any patterns, doubles and spot odd and even numbers.

Money – making the same amount

Different groups of children made different amounts of money in as many different ways as they could. They made 10p to start with using 1p, 2p and 5p then larger amounts up to 70p using a greater range of coins. Some groups then represented their findings using part-whole models.

Young Voices 2023 at Resorts World Arena

The Key Stage 2 choir represented our school with such enthusiasm last week. They performed as part of an enormous choir of just over 6500 children! A highlight was performing alongside Heather Small, Urban Strides, the Beatbox Collective and Anna Phoebe. It was a brilliant day! Gareth enjoyed himself too … clocking up his fourth visit of the week!
