Buried Treasure

This week, we learnt to read simple coordinates as part of our Land Ahoy topic. We gave a pesky pirate some instructions to find his way around a treasure island. On Thursday we placed our ‘x’ on a map to bury our treasure and played a ‘Battleships’ style game.

Autumn Walk

The children had a wonderful time exploring the signs of Autumn around our school grounds. We looked at the different kinds of trees such as Sycamore, Silver Birch and Pine. Bread Tasting

As part of our celebrations for Harvest Festival the Reception children learned about different kinds of bread. They had the opportunity to try pumpernickel, brioche, baguette and wholemeal bread. Some of the breads got the thumbs up and some didn’t! The children used lots of interesting words to describe the breads, such as yummy, fluffy, squishy and tasty!

Harvest Festival

Anne Bonny

Year 2 have been learning about famous pirates. This week we learnt all about Anne Bonny, by asking her parrot some questions. 2S enjoyed writing questions on the table in the Learning Hub and deciding which would provide us with the best information. They then asked ‘Pancake’ the parrot them and were amazed by his replies.

Year 5 completed a workshop with the NSPCC charity. Children in Year 5 and 6 have completed workshops, conducted by visitors from the NSPCC.
