This week, as part of our topic ‘Me and My Community’, we have been learning all about people who help us.
We started our Science work, finding out about sound. We tried to answer the question “how are sounds made” and found out that sounds are made when something vibrates.
After reading A Squash and a Squeeze, we came up with some questions which we would like to ask the little old lady. We then hot seated some brave volunteers who answered our questions!
Children made ‘tree cookies’ by sawing some wood. They enjoyed a hot chocolate and a sing song around the fire circle. We also went to see the dome and smelt the herbs. Several children were overheard saying ‘this is the best day ever!’ It was fun!
Here are a few photos of some of the learning in year 1 this week. Children enjoyed mixing primary colours to make secondary colours. They learnt that you can not make the primary colours by mixing other colours together. We have also had fun with practical maths. Children were fantastic at matching number digits to their words, and also created
Reception enjoyed reading ‘The Colour Monster’. They discussed each of his emotions, collaged their own monster (using a range of materials) and were able to play around with facial expressions.
