Good Morning!
Children generally had a good sleep, even though some were clearly very excited till quite late and over-slept a little! Wake up calls were at 7am. Before breakfast, some groups of children carried out their morning tasks: checking the weather for the day’s activities and setting out the tables for breakfast.
Once breakfast, cereals and toast, had been quickly devoured, designated children cleared the tables for making their lunches (sandwiches) for the day.
When the lunches had been made, it was time for some more jobs, room inspections and a briefing before settling into our activity groups!
Group A – Mountain and Mine
As the weather was very foggy and windy, in was decided that both Groups A & B would go into the mines today. When we got back into the centre, Group A did some team-building activities.
Group B – Mountain and Mine
Like Group A, we too went into the mines because of the weather. Our mine was situated a little further away, about 30mins by mini-bus. We hiked a little through some woods to reach the entrance to the mine. It is a good job we had helmets and head lamps! We experienced total darkness, a candle-lit lunch and a rowed paddle boat through an underground lake. This was different!
Group C – Independent Walk and Beach Scramble
We spent some time orienteering in the centre using maps and picture clues. We walked back with Group D to the centre through lush forests and streams. We had lunch and headed for the beach. The ice creams did not disappoint!

We too spent some time orienteering in the centre using maps and picture guides. We walked back with Group C to the centre through lush forests and fast-flowing streams. After lunch we also headed for the beach but did different activities. The really enjoyed the ice cream!
Evening
After cleaning up and showering, children had a little free time in the centre. For evening meal, the children were treated to pasta and meatballs and a sponge cake with custard. Very nice!! Lots of empty plates and bowls cleared away this evening!
