As part of our Predator topic this term, Eclipse Falconry who are based at Ash End Farm came into our classes with a variety of animals including a tawny owl, harris hawk, ferret and a boa constrictor! We have enjoyed tasting chocolate this week as part of our Scrumdiddlyumptious topic. We blind tasted different types of chocolate including a very bitter chocolate which had 74% cocoa. We used ten frames in our maths work this week to help us when we were working out some tricky addition and subtraction sums. We found them a really useful tool using counters to represent numbers. We are now all addition wizards!
Year 3 have been busy this week making their own biscuits by reading and following instructions. We looked at the features of instructions and what we need to include when writing them. We then had great fun following our instructions to make our own tasty biscuits!
We had great fun guessing which fruit or vegetable was in the box! We had to use our senses to describe what we could feel. Is it spiky or soft? Smooth or rough? Squishy or rigid? We then produced some nonsense poetry and descriptive writing about fruit!
We planted seeds and vegetables in our Forest school sessions.
We tasted some delicious smoothies in our classes and voted which flavour was our favourite and made bar charts to show which smoothies were the most popular. We then designed and made our own smoothies using fresh ingredients. Even Mr Taylor got to taste and enjoy our delicious smoothies!
