We had a fantastic time in Reception dressing up as our favourite story characters! We looked at some of our favourite books too!

We went on a walk around school to look for signs of Spring. We saw daffodils and crocuses that were growing. We found buds on the trees too. We also learnt about the school pond and how frogs go there to have their frog spawn. We found a beautiful blossom tree and listened carefully to hear the birds sing. We

Thank you to all the parents and carers who came to our Blue Abyss Art Gallery. The children have really enjoyed all the art work we have done linked to our topic and we have loved seeing all the creative work they have done as part of their home learning.

To start off our new topic of ‘What’s that Sound?’ Reception went on a listening walk. We could hear lots of different sounds, such as aeroplanes, police sirens, the wind, birds singing and lots of people around school.

To test the effects of friction, year 5 have been creating cable cars to send down a variety of different cable materials.We’ve made predictions on which we think will be the fastest and therefore has the least amount of friction. Below are some pictures of our cable cars.

This week we had a lot of fun exploring the world of AR (augmented reality) and VR (virtual reality). We think this will be an excellent learning tool: it’s exciting, realistic and excellent at igniting our imaginations.

This week, 6A have been using a variety of sentences to improve our writing. We watched an exciting short clip called Ruin for inspiration and the children have produced some wonderful, imaginative pieces of written work from it.

Over the past few weeks the Adventurous Explorers Club have made their own volcanoes. Although our experiment didn’t go exactly to plan, we enjoyed researching about volcanoes using our new app ‘Expeditions’ which allowed us to view them in Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality.

This week Year 2 received an email from Mr K. Kranky asking for their help. Unfortunately his ‘growing’ potion is no longer popular and so he asked the children to design a new potion.
