Finding links between photos of different settings and key words and links between short passages helped us to recognise some of the key features of a setting description. This week we will be writing our own setting description of our villain’s lair and this activity helped to spark our imaginations and learn some new vocabulary.

Last week, we brought comprehension to life by using plasticine to model what we could visualise. We found this technique very useful when we were then asked the next day to recall sentences and phrases from the passage – The Cave.
Well, our ‘Living Eggs’ project has now finished and 9 healthy chicks have left our school and gone to live on local free-range farms. It was a very busy week, as can be seen from these photographs. We have enjoyed visiting the chicks over the last few days and we got to handle them. It was very exciting!
Year 4 had a great time visiting the chicks. The child were very careful and respectful when handling the chicks. Look how cute they are !
As part of our topic Blue Abyss in year 4, the children had a go at creating a clay model of a sea creature. They had great fun molding and painting the clay.
We explored the computing curriculum using the iPads and J2E website. We wrote a simple program and ‘debugged’ it to find errors.
We went on a bear hunt around school. We were going to find a big one! It really was a beautiful day and we weren’t scared! We went through long wavy grass, thick oozy mud, a big dark forest, a deep cold river, a swirling whirling snow storm and a narrow gloomy cave. Inside the narrow gloomy cave we found
We were really excited to see the chicks which had hatched out at school. We were very careful when we held them and tried to keep really quiet and still, so we wouldn’t scare the chicks. They felt really fluffy when we stroked them!
This week, Year 2 have been learning about measurement. Here we are completing measurement challenges!
