Year 5’s Earth and Space topic has seen them discover and understand many of our Solar System’s phenomena; from our Moon’s lunation to how the planets orbit the Sun. Using models and demonstrations, the children were able to better understand the mind-boggling scale of our Solar System.

It was the return of our favourite event…. Sportshall Athletics! All the children in Years 5&6 have been working very hard in their PE lessons and lunchtime clubs to set their personal bests in each event. In the athletics competition there are running events- obstacle, over/under and relay races. Jumping- Long, Triple, Vertical and Speed Bounce. Throwing- Chest Push and
This week in Art, the children have been learning about Tints, Tones and Shades. They learnt how to mix coloured paints to create tints and shades of colours. The children worked independently and created beautiful pieces of art work!
Year 5 have moved onto improving and developing their counter balance skills using good communication and team work skills.
In Year 5, our Design and Technology project has been to create something that utilises pneumatics. Using tubing and two syringes, we were able to create a simple pneumatic system to push and pull. The children worked excellently in groups to create their own unique creations.
Utilising the Learning Hub space, Year 5 have been setting up boards for each other to test their knowledge of multiples, factors, prime and square numbers. Two children went head to head to find the numbers first!
