The Year 1’s talked about different types of shelters and where we may find them. As a group they created their own shelter and decorated their dens with all sorts of things! Some of the children told stories, whilst others created their own games to play.

Year 1 forest school group used a mallet, different types of leaves and white fabric to create fantastic leaf printed patterns.
Year 1 have been learning about self portraits. They have looked at the features of a face and drawn themselves using pencils. They then traced over their own photos onto laminating pouches.
Year 1 have been reading The Tiger who came to tea. They have sequenced the story, described the characters, hot seated the characters and acted out the story. Here are some pictures of them making their own puppets and retelling the story!
Year 1 are learning all about the human body and senses. The children drew around each other and added labels to different body parts.
Forest school last Friday was so hot so we made our own vanilla ice cream! We mixed ice and salt in one side of the ball, and cream, sugar and vanilla essence in the other. After half an hour of playing games rolling the ball we ended up with delicious ice cream!
This half term year 1 are looking to improve their running, jumping and throwing skills in PE. Its only week 2 and we can already see some good improvements with their techniques. Keep it up year 1!
This half term year 1 are working on their personal learning and developing their footwork skills. We have been focusing on their side stepping, skipping, hopping and galloping.
