Class 2S have been working hard to recall the important events that happened almost 200 years ago in Grace Darling’s brave rescue of 9 shipwreck survivors. This time, we made sure we got our bulbs in and around the borders at the front of school. We planted lots of daffodils and some other more exotic bulbs which we hope will blossom in early Spring next year. Keep your eyes peeled around then!

During Forest Schools, we planted some strong scented herbs into one of our planters. We thought this would be a great area to open the senses to different smells. Run your hands through the leaves next time your pass here and smell the different aromas.

The Year 6s have been help in getting our planters ready for a new year of vegetable growth. We need to move the soil effectively from the bags to the wheelbarrow then to the planters.

We had lots of fun playing with jelly babies! We used our imagination and pretended that our jelly babies were friends. They enjoyed playing with the toys and having many different adventures! They also remembered to share and take turns.

We have enjoyed the first few lessons of our swimming course. In the first lesson we were put into groups and we are now working hard practising and improving our swimming skills. (We are also getting quicker at getting changed and better at remembering to take our socks off before walking to the poolside!)

This term, Year 5 have been learning about how criminals were dealt with in Tudor times. In this lesson, children discussed various crimes committed and the likely brutal punishment in the 16th century. The children also discussed how different the criminal system is today, in terms of the type of crimes committed and how the criminal is punished.

This week the Year 5 children have learned about where the Moon is, how it orbits the Earth, its different phases and the impact it has on the Earth, such as the ocean’s tides. Children recorded the changing ‘faces’ of the Moon by demonstrating its movement using a moon on a stick!
