Year 5 and 6 have been enjoying our Zumba lunchtime club. We try to offer a range of clubs for the children and this one is definitely growing in popularity. Keep dancing….

We went to the library in the Learning Hub to choose a book we thought we would like to read.
We had great fun guessing which fruit or vegetable was in the box! We had to use our senses to describe what we could feel. Is it spiky or soft? Smooth or rough? Squishy or rigid? We then produced some nonsense poetry and descriptive writing about fruit!
We enjoyed listening to the story, ‘Love Monster’ by Rachel Bright. We spoke about why Love monster felt sad at the beginning of the story and how he felt at the end. Today, Year 5 had their first lesson with a special visitor from Ernesford Grange Secondary school, Science teacher, Mrs Poole. All the children thoroughly enjoyed learning about the planets within our solar system, their various sizes and their distances from one another. We have been learning how to write noun phrases in English as a new way of describing things. In our first lesson, we listened to sounds of a stormy sea and looked at paintings to help us imagine that we were there! We collected adjectives and then Mrs Crust helped us use these words to describe parts of the boat.

Year 5 have been swimming at the Alan Higgs Centre during September this year. Each afternoon, for two weeks, children have travelled on a bus to the centre to learn how to swim 25m, using different strokes, as well as being able to exit the pool in safe way. As always, our children rose to the challenge really well and
