We have really enjoyed making loombands in skills academy. We learnt to make the ‘fishtail’ style loombands using a special board. Here are some of the bracelets we made!
We have been continuing our work on Little Red Reading Hood and went on a woodland walk around the school. We explored different parts of the school to help us come up with adventurous vocabulary using our 5 senses. We then turned those ideas into phrases using alliteration! What a busy week in Nursery! This week we have been thinking about all the different people who help us. The children have enjoyed dressing up as firefighters, police officers, nurses and doctors. We walked around school on Monday finding the best places to sit down and read a book. These were our favourites! Our work in English for the next few weeks is based upon a picture book called Little Red Reading Hood who adores reading books and does so wherever she can.
The Year 3&4 Girls football team started this year’s competitions in brilliant fashion this week . The very excited team went to the AT7 Centre to play 3 games of football in this months competition. We were put in a group against Willenhall, Eastern Green and Christ The King. We started against Willenhall in a very close match which ended
Mrs Kingswell’s Maths group enjoyed a lesson in our new outdoor classroom where we investigated rounding numbers to the nearest 10.
We started our Autumn History topic, Invasion, by looking at maps and timelines and trying to answer questions about Anglo-Saxon and Viking invasions.
The children in year 4 have been having swimming lessons at Alan Higgs. They were all very resilient and have become more confident in the water and developed their swimming skills over the last two weeks.
Year 4 have started practising previously learned multiplication facts and learning new ones, in preparation for the Year 4 Multiplication Check which will take place in June. The aim is for all children in year 4 to be able to quickly recall all multiplication facts up to 12 x 12. We will be using different games, TTRockstars and Times table
