Year 6 had a visit from a secondary school teacher this week who led us through a science experiment where the children had to filter urine. This was linked to experiments carried out by NASA to support their astronauts. *Real urine was NOT used to the relief of the children (and teachers).

Skills academy was a lot of messy fun this week: donut eating with no lip licking, guess the skittle flavour, guess the crisp flavour, guess the chocolate, and sliding an after eight and chocolate digestive into your mouth.
We went on a nature walk around the school. What interesting items do you think we found? Children then wrote all about their walk and drew some lovely pictures to remind them of the ‘great outdoors’.
Children had fun playing games to work out if words have a ‘s’ or an ‘es’ when they become plural nouns.
What a busy week we have had in Reception! We packed our suitcases and travelled to Wales! Mr Taylor taught us some Welsh. We tasted some delicious Welsh cakes, which Ms Richards very kindly made! We then went by steam train to Bonny Scotland where we did some Scottish sword dancing, made some clay Loch Ness monsters and tasted some
This week as part of Year 4’s Sound topic, we have been experimenting to see what would be the best material to absorb sound. We used a range of materials to wrap a bell in. One person shook the bell and another counted how many steps away they could hear it from.
We enjoyed listening to the story, ‘I will not ever, never eat a tomato’ by Lauren Child. We spoke about what food we enjoy eating. We then sorted pictures of food into two groups, those that we like and those that we don’t like. We talked about how they tasted, for example, sweet, spicy, sour etc.
Year 3 really enjoyed their Stone Age experience. Richard from the History Squad brought lots of historical artefacts for the children to explore. We played games, made cave paintings and built our own Stone Henge!
Our science week was full of exciting experiments. The children are investigating how many laces they can gather when they have different restrictions: on their knees, boxer gloves, blindfolded and free as a bird.
The last round of skills academy started very well for the Year 6!
