In Reception we played ‘Chinese Whispers’ to pass a message round a circle. Then we went outside to do the same over distance, where we had to SHOUT! We had lots of fun learning about loud and quiet voices!

On a very cold, rainy morning Year 3 ventured outdoors to test the volcanoes we made. We made volcano cones out of paper and followed a set of instructions to create a volcano from everyday ingredients you might find in your cupboards at home. We loved dressing up as different story characters for World Book Day. We had Spiderman, Elsa, the Gruffalo, Little Red Riding Hood, Peter Rabbit and even Marie Curie in Nursery! We enjoyed listening to different stories in our book corner and we listened to some poems too! It was lots of fun!
This week, in collaboration with World Book Day, we have been studying a picture book called Journey written and illustrated by Aaron Becker. We have been thoroughly impressed with the children’s interpretation of the story and their writing based on the story. We also loved dressing up as our favourite book characters.
Reception had lots of fun making staircase patterns with unifix cubes! We had to make sure that they were in the correct order. We then played a game where we had to take turns hiding one of the staircase towers and had to try to guess which one was missing!

Year 4 enjoyed dressing up for World Book Day Year 4 enjoyed exploring the text: Voices in the Park by Anthony Browne.
Year 5 enjoyed various activities on World Book Day, and looked super in all their costumes. Throughout the week the children studied The Island by Armin Greder and wrote their own sequel.
Everyone made such an effort to dress up today as a character from a book for World Book Day. We had an assembly to show off our amazing costumes and to parade around the hall. Even Chester the dog was impressed! We then listened to Michael Rosen perform his famous Chocolate Cake poem and we looked at the picture book.
