Living Eggs 2020

Monday February 3rd Today we welcomed our chicken eggs to Ernesford Grange Primary School. Ten eggs are now outside Mr Walsh’s classroom, kept warm and safe in an incubator. They are due to hatch soon, and already, some children have noticed small cracks beginning to appear on the egg shells…this is called ‘pipping’ and means that the chick inside has

Eco Warriors

This week, the Adventurous Explorers went for a walk in our local area. We were model citizens and cleaned up the litter we passed – there was a lot of it!

Young Voices 2020

On Tuesday 21st January 2020, 30 children went to the Resorts World Arena to perform in the Young Voices concert. They were part of a choir of 6000 children from all around the Midlands and Wales! They performed artists such as Tony Hadley and The Shires. The concert was brilliant and I am sure many amazing memories were made that

Snozzcumbers

This week we have been focusing on instructional writing. Inspired by our Roald Dahl work, we decided to make our own Snozzcumbers. We then (those that felt brave enought) ate them! Later in the week we wrote our own recipe cards.

Super Sentences!

In Nursery some of us have been practising writing a simple sentence. We sounded out the words together, wrote the letters we could hear and then checked our work to make sure we had all the correct sounds. We are very proud of our work!

Ratio and Proportion using Skittles

Today we have been using skittles to help us learn about ratio and proportion. We compared the colours in each bag of skittles using ratio. We then simplified our the ratios and compared our answers. We investigated what proportion there was of each colour. Finally we got to eat some of them!

You Can’t Catch Me!

We did an interesting experiment where we tested different liquids, such as orange juice, milk and fizzy pop. We found out which ‘river’ would be the best for the Gingerbread Man to cross so that he wouldn’t be eaten by the fox! It was very exciting to see the results! Ask your child what happened.

Spider Playground Maths

On Wednesday afternoon, despite the cold, we took our maths lesson outside and had a lot of fun racing for problems to solve and drawing ‘spiders’ on the playground to show percentages of a number and equivalent values.

Dance

Up next on the PE scheme of work for KS2 was dance. Although Mr Hancock and Callum have practised their side step clap routine for a few years, it was time for the school to learn a variety of topics in dance. Mr Hancock and Callum looked nervous about creating new routines. Fortunately for the PE, staff Georgia from CV
