Year 3 had a special visitor this week. Dr Watson from the Ogden Trust came to talk to us about forces and magnets. The children carried out a variety of investigations and expanded their scientific knowledge. A highlight of the morning for the children (and teachers) was getting to have a go on a hover board.
Today, Year 4 had a special guest in from Warwickshire Wildlife Trust, and we learnt all about pollution that occurs in rivers and drains. What a privilege it was to take these children to Resorts World Arena to perform as part of a choir of over 5000 other primary school children! We sang our hearts out all afternoon during the rehearsal and then performed it all in the evening to a sell out audience. It was such a memorable day!
Year 4 put their ‘mountainous’ knowledge to the test in an active geography lesson. After talking about what we thought we knew already, we ventured around the classroom to build on our knowledge.
This week we have been learning about owls and other nocturnal animals such as bats. We have focused on the story ‘Owl Babies’ by Martin Waddell. The children loved joining in with the refrain’ I want my Mummy!’ Using the Little Wandle phonics scheme the children learned the sound ’o’ and played lots of games to develop their phonemic awareness

We have started our new Design and Technology topic called Beach Hut. We have spent two afternoons working on making our structures stronger, stiffer and more stable. We used newspaper, card, masking tape and paper. Now we are ready to make the real things out of wood!
